Moving Forward After Quake

We all are moving forward after the quake. Daily businesses are starting to run and people are starting to live normal life. We now have to face completely different situation. Children have faced the situation of fear; parents are worried about the future and their lively hood; businesses are hoping for bright days; tourists are worried about their safety; government is working on resettlement, new constitution and how to improve the condition of people all over Nepal.

Now, we need to work together. There is no alternative. We all need to use the aid from donors to improve our condition. Rehabilitation of victims from earthquake and making the living of citizens all over Nepal back to normal are very hard challenges.

Nepal should not be the example of huge leakage in the budget provided for the rehabilitation and resettlement. The main objective of utilizing the overall budget of the country should be focused on addressing the need of the local people who are affected. Then only the locals who are living in the affected area will have the favorable environment to move forward as well as utilize the resources they have.

The government should also focus on restoring the economic condition of the country while it is working on rehabilitation and resettlement of the victims. While the nation is undergoing through the process of rehabilitation of victims and renovation of all those historical monuments, the economic condition of people should also be strongly improved. Only then we will have stable development. Ignoring financial situation may make the citizens dependent on aids and other institutions that are there for help during the situation of need.

We may build a house in one day working alone, if we work together we will build more than one if we all work together and the numbers don’t have limits. So, all the institutions formal or informal working for the help should focus on collective effort and team work.

While the social institution and other organizations are working from their side, government should also focus on improving skills of people, emphasize entrepreneurship, provide training, provide favorable environment and make policies that can revive the economy.

 Society should be stimulated with development works.  This will provide a boost for labor market; effective monetary policies should be formulated for smooth financial situation of the economy; trade should be promoted; agriculture should be provided with support; citizens should be provided suitable environment for growth; foreigners and citizens should be assured about the safety and long term projects and campaigns should be initiated and implemented that are focused on long term development and they should be strictly assessed and continued till they are completed.
